Description
LUXAMID is a non-absorbable nylon (polyamide) monofilament surgical suture manufactured by Luxsutures for wound closure in dental and oral and maxillofacial surgery. The smooth monofilament surface causes minimal tissue reaction and passes smoothly through tissue, making the suture well suited for closing skin and oral mucosa incisions after tooth extractions, implant placement or flap surgery.
Like other nylon monofilament sutures, LUXAMID is not absorbed by the body – over time it becomes encapsulated by connective tissue, and due to slow hydrolysis its mass decreases only slightly each year. The suture comes with a 3/8 circle reverse cutting needle, well suited to penetrating denser tissue with minimal trauma. Suture length is 75 cm, with 12 sterile packs per box.
