What a face scanner is for

A face scanner combines facial geometry and texture with intraoral data and, if needed, CBCT data. This makes it possible to plan aesthetic restorations and orthodontic treatment with facial proportions in mind, and to show the patient a “before and after” visualization during the consultation.

Models

  • MetiSmile – 3D facial data in ~10 s, accuracy up to 50 µm, flash-free (IR) scanning, handheld or stationary mode, export to STL / OBJ / PLY.
  • MetiSmile MR – additionally records the mandibular motion trajectory for functional and occlusal analysis; body ~800 g.
  • RAYFace – face scanning in under 0.5 s, suitable for quick simulations during the consultation.

Functional analysis

Software modules and accessories are available for the MetiSmile system – jaw motion tracking, mandibular motion analysis and optimal jaw relation modules, motion trackers and markers. You will find them in the jaw motion analysis section.

Compatibility

Face scans are aligned with intraoral scanner data. A face scanner is also integrated into the SHINING 3D All-in-one e-motion cart.

What is the difference between MetiSmile and MetiSmile MR?

MetiSmile MR additionally records the mandibular motion trajectory. MetiSmile is designed for 3D face scanning and aesthetic planning without motion recording.

Can face scanner data be used with other CAD software?

Yes, MetiSmile and MetiSmile MR export STL, OBJ and PLY formats, and jaw motion data can be used with exocad and other CAD software.

Is scanning uncomfortable for the patient's eyes?

MetiSmile and MetiSmile MR scan with flash-free infrared light, so the procedure is comfortable for the eyes.
