How to choose an intraoral scanner

  • Indications. For crowns, bridges, inlays and orthodontics, the Aoralscan 3 (240 g, one arch in ~25 s) or the ultra-light Aoralscan Elf (106 g) is sufficient. For full-arch implant cases (All-on-X), the Aoralscan Elite combines intraoral scanning and photogrammetry (IPG).
  • Wired or wireless. Aoralscan 3 Wireless, Elite Wireless and Elite Wireless NEO connect via Wi-Fi 6 and provide up to ~2 hours of continuous scanning. NEO does not support photogrammetry.
  • Open system. Aoralscan scanners export STL, OBJ and PLY files, and RAYiOS 2 is presented as an open system that connects easily to lab software.

Accessories

Autoclavable tips, coded scan bodies for photogrammetry, Scan Cap caps, carts and a calibration kit are in the intraoral scanner accessories section. For smile design, the scanner can be complemented with a face scanner.

What happens after scanning

Scans can be sent to the lab via SHINING 3D Dental Cloud, or you can print models, splints and temporaries yourself with a 3D printer.

How much does an intraoral scanner cost?

Which Aoralscan scanner is suitable for implant photogrammetry?

Photogrammetry (IPG) is supported by Aoralscan Elite and Aoralscan Elite Wireless. Coded scan bodies and Scan Cap caps are designed for them. Aoralscan Elf and Elite Wireless NEO do not support photogrammetry.

How long does a wireless scanner run?

Aoralscan 3 Wireless and Elite Wireless NEO provide up to about 2 hours of continuous scanning on a single charge; NEO charges in ~2.5 hours.

Can scanner tips be sterilized?

Yes, Aoralscan tips are reusable and autoclavable. You will find spare tips among the scanner accessories.

Can I try the scanner at my clinic?
