Description
Sanapost – tapered fiberglass posts made in Italy for restoring endodontically treated teeth. They are intended for dentists restoring extensive hard-tissue defects who aim for even load transfer between post, cement and dentin.
The posts are made of glass fibers in a resin matrix – this structure has a modulus of elasticity close to that of dentin, so load is distributed more evenly than with stiffer metal or zirconia posts, reducing the risk of root fracture and post debonding. The slightly rough surface improves adhesion to the composite core and luting cement. The tapered shape with a 2 % taper allows conservative root canal preparation, preserving more natural dentin, while the anti-rotation tip prevents the post from rotating during cementation.
The post is selected according to the diameter of the prepared canal and cemented using an adhesive technique with a dual-cure or self-cure cement, after which the core and coronal portion are restored.
The elastic modulus of the glass fiber and resin combination is similar to that of dentin, resulting in lower stresses in the root.
A 2 % taper allows the canal to be prepared while preserving hard tissue.
Reduces the risk of post rotation during cementation and core build-up.
Diameters from 0.8 to 1.4 mm allow the post to be matched precisely to the prepared canal.
