Description
Hemostatic gelatin sponge – an absorbable product for controlling bleeding after tooth extraction and other minor oral surgical procedures. Once soaked with blood, the sponge forms a porous matrix on which a clot develops, helping to stop minor venous or capillary bleeding where conventional hemostasis methods (suturing, pressure) are difficult to apply.
Sponges of this type are usually made from absorbable gelatin of animal origin, are sterile and single-use, and are absorbed by the body over time. They are easy to cut into pieces of the required size with sterile scissors and can be used dry or moistened with sterile saline.
Provides a surface for clot formation and helps stop minor bleeding after surgical procedures.
Resorbs in the body over time, so the sponge usually does not need to be removed separately.
Easily cut into pieces of the required size with sterile scissors; used dry or moistened.
